Personal Data Protection

The deployment of this questionnaire to alumni of the two institutions and to a control group composed of former students of comparable institutions established in the countries of the study cannot be done without the collection of personal data, hence a series of personal data protection measures taken by the research team.

Respect of African countries and European regulations for Personal Data Protection

First of all, the research team formed within the AIMS and Sciences Po consortium is committed to implementing the best practices in terms of data protection. This includes rules around enlightened and informed consent but also the rights linked to the treatment of personal data, especially standards for the collection, storage and processing of personal data.

The research will therefore respect basic principles laid down by the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), since one of the member of the research consortium, Sciences Po, is located on the territory of the European Union. It will also abide to national data protection regulations of African coountries in which the survey is conducted.

Rights to refuse study participation or withdraw consent to participate

The project is not a cohort study. Study participants are not required to answer all questions or complete the study. However, a complete questionnaire would allow the research team to benefit from precise and exhaustive data to better understand the impact of entrepreneurial training and to propose improvements around practices aimed at promoting entrepreneurial trajectories among graduates.

Any participant has always the right to refuse or withdraw his/her participation without any indemnity. Participants do not pay any fees for the survey and are not paid to be surveyed.

Protection of personal data

The protection of participants' data was taken very seriously from the start of the project.

Physical access to data processing is protected as buildings in which data are treated are secured. Digital access to data is monitored through a user authentication process to access databases (individual password and certificate). A log of connections to data is archived.

In the case of network data exchange, the transport channel or the data is encrypted.

Protection of participants rights

Depending on participants’ place of residence, the legal regime applicable to individuals with regard to the protection of personal data will not apply in the same way. To know:

For Sciences Po alumni, residents and persons whose data has been processed within the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation applies.

This processing is carried out as part of a study for the purpose of research whose legal basis is the performance of a task in the public interest. In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations of the European Union, Sciences Po alumni have rights to the processing of their data (right to information, access, oblivion and deletion of data).

To exercise their rights or for any other question concerning the protection of their data, they will write to: centre.entrepreneuriat@sciencespo.fr. In case of difficulty, they can contact the Sciences Po Data Protection Officer via the email address: dpo@sciencespo.fr. In the event of dissatisfaction with the exercise of your GDPR rights, they can contact the CNIL (https://www.cnil.fr/fr/cnil-direct/question/comment-contacter-la-cnil).

For residents outside the European Union and living on the African continent, national laws and any regulations concerning the protection of their privacy and personal data will apply as follows:

This processing is carried out as part of a study for the purpose of research, the legal basis of which is the performance of a mission in the public interest. In accordance with the different national regulations of the countries in which the study is carried out and with the internal provisions of AIMS and other institutions whose members and alumni will be interviewed, participants have rights regarding the processing of their data (right to information, access, oblivion, and erasure of data).

To exercise their rights or for any other questions concerning the protection of their data, they can write to Prof. Foupouagnigni Mama and Dr. Daniel Duviol Tcheutia at AIMS. In case of difficulty, they can contact the AIMS Data Protection Officer: data-protection@nexteinstein.org.

For other academic institutions, the persons to be contacted will be announced once final agreements have been signed.

In the event of dissatisfaction with the exercise of your rights, they can contact the following organization, depending on their country of residence.
